Dennis Reyman Named National Appraiser of the Year

A Woodbury County farmer and longtime Storm Lake business leader has received one of the nation’s highest honors in agricultural appraisal.

Dennis Reyman, who farms near Correctionville and is a partner at Stalcup Ag Service in Storm Lake, was named the National Appraiser of the Year by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. The award was presented at the group’s annual convention in Clearwater, Fla., last month.

The honor, known as the Henry A. Long, Jr. Award, recognizes accredited rural appraisers who have made a lasting impact on the profession through education, leadership, and community involvement.

Reyman says the recognition reflects decades of dedication to professionalism and ethics in the field.

On a personal level, Reyman says it’s humbling to be included among past recipients.

Reyman has worked at Stalcup Ag Service since 1993 and continues to farm corn, soybeans, hay, and Red Angus cattle near Correctionville. He says his farming background gives him a broader perspective in appraisal and management.

As part of the award, Reyman received a $2,000 honorarium, which he will donate to Morningside University’s beef program in Sioux City.

He hopes the recognition encourages young people to pursue careers in agriculture.

Looking ahead, Reyman says Iowa agriculture faces major transitions in land ownership.

The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, based in Colorado, represents more than 2,200 members nationwide. Reyman’s recognition places northwest Iowa prominently on the national stage of agricultural appraisal.
