A dedication ceremony for the new Storm Lake St. Mary’s Wayne and Bernie Andrews Reading and Innovation Center will be held this coming weekend.
The invitation-only event will be held Saturday, August 20th at 11am at the school.
The 250-thousand dollar project includes a 50-thousand dollar endowment for future upkeep. Two classrooms have been updated and transformed to include new lighting, heating and air conditioning units, flooring, and furnishings. Glass doors have been installed which connect the rooms to add flexibility to the space.
The former classroom and school library space will be used for STEM learning, research and robotics space, visual arts class, and a gathering space for individual and group reading. The Reading and Innovation Center includes state of the art computers, specialized software, 3-D printers, power stations, and overhead projectors.
The project was funded by a lead gift from Joe and Kathy Nemmers and family, as well as numerous St. Mary’s supporters. It’s named in honor of late longtime St. Mary’s Parish members and school supporters Wayne and Bernie Andrews.
