Competency Evaluation Requested For Man Accused Of Fatally Shooting Woman

An attorney representing Christian Goyne-Yarns is seeking an evaluation to determine if his client is mentally competent to stand trial.

Goyne-Yarns was charged with 1st degree murder in the death of Shelby Woizeschke. He’s accused of shooting Woizeschke multiple times in the parking lot at Grapetree Medical Staffing in Milford on the morning of February 3rd, 2022. Woizeschke later died of her injuries.

Court records don’t indicate as to when a ruling could be made on the competency motion. The state is resisting the motion as well as a request for a stay on the proceedings in the case.

Goyne-Yarns is currently scheduled to go on trial August 16th in Dickinson County District Court.
