A series of events previously approved by the Storm Lake City Council has been put on hold, at least temporarily.
The council two weeks ago approved a special event permit for a series of 27 car meets to be held on Fridays, mostly in the summer months, in the Discovery Center parking area. The individual who proposed the event is Dominic Klaschen of Cherokee. This week, Assistant City Manager David Derragon said he hasn’t been able to contact Klaschen to iron out specific details, and doesn’t have a proper certificate of insurance. Derragon asked the council to rescind approval of the special event permit, which the council approved unanimously.
In other business, the council approved the addition of two portable toilets for the West 9th Street ballfields.
