Cell Phone Providers Offer Advice for Protecting Your Device in Extreme Cold

Cell phone providers say there are some things we should keep in mind if you’re going to be out in the elements with your device.

They say it’s important to make sure your device is fully charged as battery power can be significantly reduced in cold temperatures. They also recommend keeping it in a case to help protect it from the elements, and to keep your device in a pocket when outdoors, instead of a purse or bag. And they say to let your device warm up before you try to use it. If a phone powers off due to the cold, give it time to warm up to room temperature before turning it on. They also say you should never use a heating source, such as a blow dryer, to warm it up.

Experts say the extreme cold can affect cause issues with displays, buttons, and shorten battery life.
