The filing period for county offices in the June 2nd Primary Election has closed, and Buena Vista County voters will see a completely uncontested ballot—with every race featuring the same officeholders currently serving.
Republican Kathy Croker of Alta was the only candidate to file to retain her District 1 seat on the board of supervisors. Republican Kelly Snyder of Sioux Rapids is seeking to retain his District 2 seat, and Republican Paul Merten of Storm Lake is also unopposed in his bid to continue representing District 3.
The pattern is the same across the county’s other offices up for election.
County Attorney Paul Allen, Recorder Curt Reis, and Treasurer Danelle Haberman—all Republicans from Storm Lake—filed for re‑election and face no challengers.
No Democrats filed for any Buena Vista County office this cycle, meaning every county‑level primary race is uncontested and will advance the current officeholders to the November ballot unless write‑in campaigns emerge.
