Information has been released regarding a two-vehicle accident that happened Monday morning just east of Storm Lake.
According to the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 8:20am Monday at the intersection of Expansion Boulevard and Highway 71. 56-year-old Roberto Guerrero-Rodriguez of Storm Lake was driving a pickup truck, which was stopped at a stop sign facing eastbound. Guerrero-Rodriguez attempted to drive across the highway to 610th Street, and said there was a semi turning southbound, and said as a result he was not able to see northbound traffic. He drove into the path of a Ford Taurus headed northbound on Highway 71, which was driven by 44-year-old Johnathon Hiner of Fonda. Hiner wasn’t able to slow down fast enough and crashed into the truck.
Both drivers complained of minor injuries. Hiner was checked out at the scene and was cleared by the BVRMC EMS. Both vehicles sustained 14 hundred dollars in damage. Both drivers were wearing their seat belt. Both vehicles were towed by Storm Lake Towing.
