Body of Man Who Drowned in North Twin Lake Recovered

The body of a man who drowned in Calhoun County’s North Twin Lake was recovered on Tuesday.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 26-year-old Pablo Arcos Alvaro of Rockwell City was located by a member of the Buena Vista County Dive team shortly before noon on Tuesday.

The possible drowning was first reported late in the afternoon on Monday. An investigation revealed that Arcos Alvaro had been swimming with friends in North Twin Lake at Treman Park. He attempted to swim out to a buoy and began to struggle to stay above water. Arcos Alvaro went under the water surface before bystanders could reach him, and he did not resurface.

Several agencies responded to the scene, and the BV County Dive Team was called. The Treman Park beach area was searched excessively by responding agencies, but the search was called off around 9:30pm Monday when the body wasn’t found. The search resumed around 6:15am Tuesday, and the dive teams entered the water around 10:40 Tuesday morning.

The body of Arcos Alvaro has been transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
