The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors today (Wed) announced that 26 local housing trust funds are receiving a total of more than 11-million dollars in grants to support local housing initiatives.
The Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund, which serves Buena Vista, Clay, O’Brien, and Palo Alto counties, is receiving a grant of over 498-thousand dollars.
The Council of Governments Inc, which serves Sac county, is getting a grant of over 378-thousand dollars.
The Heart of Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund, which serves Calhoun and Pocahontas counties, is getting almost 412-thousand dollars in grant money.
The Western Iowa Community Improvement Regional Housing Trust Fund, which serves Cherokee and Ida counties, is receiving a grant of more than 380-thousand dollars.
The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program, and are expected to assist nearly 24-hundred families. The grant funds will be used for initiatives such as preserving aging housing stock, subsidizing local rental and down payment assistance programs, providing low-interest loans or grants to assist Iowans with home rehabilitation, financing construction of new single-family housing for low-income Iowans, and supporting housing for persons with disabilities and homeless assistance programs.
