With chances for rain in the forecast at the end of this work week, precipitation would be most welcome as drought conditions in Iowa keep getting worse.
According to the latest Iowa Drought Monitor, the percentage of Iowa experiencing some level of drought is up slightly to 89-percent. Nearly 11-percent of the state now has Extreme Drought, all of which is showing up in northwest and western areas. All of BV, and at least portions of all surrounding counties, are dealing with Extreme Drought. A portion of Woodbury County continues to have Exceptional Drought, which is the highest level possible.
The entire state has been abnormally dry since the middle of October.
