Denison Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Illegal Firearm Possession

A Denison man, who was found with a firearm after being a convicted felon, was sentenced last week in Sioux City Federal Court to a ten-year prison term.

34-year-old Kevin DeWolf received the prison term after pleading guilty in September to Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Shortly after being indicted for the firearm charge, DeWolf set a vehicle on fire in Crawford County in an attempt to fraudulently collect the insurance proceeds.

DeWolf was previously convicted of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver Controlled Substance, in Crawford County District Court. DeWolf also has a prior assault conviction.

DeWolf must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the ten-year prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

DeWolf was being held in the United States Marshal’s custody awaiting transportation to a federal prison.
