The Storm Lake boys cross country team placed 5th out of 13 teams at their state qualifying meet yesterday at Spencer and the Tornado girls finished 10th out of 12.
Joel Ramirez-Parra and Luis Martinez finished in the top 15 and qualified for the state meet which will take place Friday, October 27th. Ramirez-Parra placed 8th in 16:48 and Martinez was 9th in 16:49. Martinez will be running at the state meet for the fourth year in a row and Ramirez-Parra for the second straight season. The 3A state cross country meet will be in Fort Dodge Saturday, October 28th at 2:45pm.
The Storm Lake girls were led by Silvia Campbell who placed 23rd and broke her own school record in the process running 20:47.
