Avery DeHaan threw a complete game four-hitter and the Storm Lake softball team took advantage of five errors in their 7-0 win Tuesday night over Pocahontas Area.
DeHaan was in trouble only once when the Indians loaded the bases with only one out in the 3rd inning thanks to three singles but the Tornado sophomore would get two straight outs on a fly ball and a soft liner hit right back to her to end the threat. She struck out six and allowed no walks and at one point retired 13 straight batters.
Six of the Storm Lake runs were unearned off losing pitcher Lauren Hoover. Hoover allowed eight hits, struck out seven and walked one.
Mackenzie Harder went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, Maddy Raveling was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Storm Lake is now 6-1 and will play at Spirit Lake Wednesday. The Indians fall to 4-3 and will host Saint Mary’s Wednesday.
