Maddy Raveling’s 2-run homer in the bottom of the 6th inning was the difference in Storm Lake’s 3-2 win over visiting West Monona. Taylor Ripke’s base hit scored Avery DeHaan for the Tornadoes first run of the game.
The Raveling homer put the Tornadoes up 3-1. DeHaan pitched all seven innings and allowed only three hits while striking out seven and the Tornadoes picked up their 19th win of the season. Storm Lake will play again at home on Monday vs. Humboldt.
The Storm Lake baseball team beat Newell-Fonda 5-0 behind the pitching of Charlie Dvergsten who tossed a 3-hitter and struck out 13. The Tornadoes had nine hits as they improve to 12-11 on the season.
