The Storm Lake wrestling teams placed 2nd at Saturday’s Carroll-Kuemper Duals. The Tornadoes beat Missouri Valley 45-35, they beat Kuemper 49-28, and scored a 66-18 win over Audubon. Storm Lake suffered losses to Johnston 39-38 and Winterset defeated the Tornadoes 69-7. The Tornadoes will wrestle again Thursday at Cherokee.
The Storm Lake basketball teams swept OA-BCIG Saturday afternoon at Tornado Fieldhouse. The girls won 59-32 with Adeeya Yanga and Avery DeHaan each scoring 15 points. The Tornadoes are now 9-5 overall. The Falcons were led by Irelynn Wittrock’s nine points as the Falcons fall to 5-9 on the year.
Jaidyn Coon scored a career high 34 points in Storm Lake’s 78-49 win over OA-BCIG. Coon was 12-for-20 from the field including 6-of-8 from the arc. The Tornadoes are now 9-1 on the year and both Storm Lake teams will host Spirit Lake Tuesday night. The Falcon boys were led in scoring by Evan Hoffman’s ten points.
