Tornado Football Team Wins District Opener

The Storm Lake football team went on the road Thursday night and came home with a 28-19 win at Sioux City-West in their class 4A-District One opener.

The Tornadoes trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Wolverines 21-0 in a decisive 2nd quarter.

Carson Lullmann was 18-for-31 for 203 yards with four touchdown passes and no picks. Rylan Richardson had eight receptions for 77 yards and two scores and also ran the ball five times for 35 yards.

Joey Rice led the team in tackles.

Storm Lake is now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the district and will host Fort Dodge next Friday night.

Lullmann now has 18 touchdown passes with only three interceptions on the year.
