The 5th ranked Storm Lake boys basketball team picked up their 20th win of the season Monday night defeating Denison-Schleswig 78-36 at Tornado Fieldhouse.
Jaidyn Coon scored a game high 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting and he made five 3-pointers on six attempts including 4-for-4 from the arc in the 3rd quarter. Coon added eight rebounds and four assists. Garbieno Weno scored a career high 14 points and Tim Yanga added 12 to lead the Tornadoes in scoring.
Cam Boyd, needing eight assists to become the all time assist leader in Storm Lake history, dished out no less than four in the game. (pending stats)
Storm Lake outscored the Monarchs 24-5 in the 2nd quarter and led 42-16 at the break. Next up for Storm Lake will be the Carroll Tigers Thursday night at Tornado Fieldhouse in a sub-state semi-final game at 7pm.
Storm Lake will have a chance at some redemption as Carroll beat Storm Lake 57-53 in Storm Lake January 4th. The Tigers won their tournament opener Monday night defeating Saydel 84-51.
