Strong first-half key in Raider Boys Soccer 6-3 playoff victory over AHSTW

The East Sac County Raider Boys Soccer team used a strong first half to defeat the AHSTW Vikings in the first round of the Class 1A Substate 1 playoff

The first half saw the Raiders set the tone right from the beginning when Isaiah Aragon found the back of the net 67 seconds into the game to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead. Later in the half, the Raiders would add back-to-back goals when Luke Wright (20:00) and Aragon (15:50) connected to give the Raiders the 3-0 lead. The Vikings would find one goal on a counterattack when Kayden Baxter scored with 14:44 to go in the half as the Raiders went to the break up 3-1. The second half saw Aragon complete the hat trick at 25:00 to give the Raiders the 4-1 lead. Just 1:14 later Baxter would tally his second to cut the Raider lead to 4-2. The Raiders would take a commanding 6-2 lead after back-to-back Wright goals (19:55 and 11:59). The Viking would score a late goal, however, the Raiders would prevail 6-2.

With the win the Raiders improved to 5-5 (5 wins in a season is a new school record), and advance to play at Unity Christian on May 20th at 7:00 pm. The win also marks the second win in the postseason in as many seasons (now 2-0 at home in the playoffs). The loss ends the Vikings season at 3-10.
