The Class 3A State Cross Country Meet was held this morning at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
Storm Lake’s Silvia Kampbell placed 49th in a time of 20:01. The junior became the first Storm Lake cross country runner to make the State Meet since 1988. Pella’s Marissa Ferebee won the race in a time of 16:30. The Pella girls team ran away from the competition putting five runners in the top 12 winning the meet easily with 23 points. Sioux Center was 2nd with 142 points.
Joel Ramirez-Parra was competing at the State Meet for the third time in his career and finshed 26th in a time of 16:40. Western Dubuque’s Quentin Nauman won the race in a time of 14:59. Gilbert won the team title and put 5 of their runners in the top 16.
