Charlie Dvergsten threw six touchdown passes and passed for 288 yards in the first half alone and the Storm Lake football team beat Sioux City-West 52-15 Friday night in front of a big Homecoming game crowd.
Dvergsten finished the game 23-of-35 for 340 yards, he also ran the ball seven times for another sixty yards. David William had 12 receptions for 185 yards and a touchdown and he also returned an interception sixty yards for a touchdown in the 2nd half. Rylan Richardson had six catches for 79 yards and three scores, he also had a 17 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter. Cam Boyd had 4 receptions for 55 yards and two TD’s.
Storm Lake had 464 yards of offense compared to West’s 228. The game was marred by penalties as the two teams combined for 33 accepted penalties, 22 by West.
West falls to 0-5 and will host Le Mars next week. Storm Lake is now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the district and will play next Friday at Fort Dodge.
