Storm Lake Basketball Teams Sweep Le Mars

The Storm Lake girls basketball team snapped a 27-game losing streak to Le Mars thanks to a 58-41 win Friday night at Tornadoe Fieldhouse.

Adeeya Yanga made 8-of-13 shots and scored a game high 21 points and Avery DeHaan added 13. The Tornadoes came out with a lot of energy at both ends of the floor and built a 32-13 lead at the half. The win puts their record to 6-5 overall while the Bulldogs fall to 2-8.

The Storm Lake girls play again Monday night at Ridge View. The game will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.

The Tornado boys then made it a sweep with a 73-53 win over the visiting Bulldogs. Cam Boyd scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half and Jaidyn Coon, who was plagued with foul trouble in the first half, scored 14 of his 17 in the second half helping Storm Lake to their 7th win of the year. Trey Boettcher scored 13 points and Tim Yanga added ten.

The Tornado boys who are now 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Lakes Conference return to action next Friday at Spencer.
