Storm Lake Basketball Teams Pick Up Wins Over Indians

The Storm Lake basketball teams both won their 10th game of the year Tuesday night with wins over visiting Spirit Lake.

The Tornado girls played great defense all night long and won 58-45. Storm Lake jumped out to a 16-4 lead and never looked back and never trailed in the game. After trailing 26-19 at the half Spirit Lake scored back to back baskets to start the 3rd quarter to pull within 26-23 but the Tornadoes responded with a 16-2 run capped off by an Avery DeHaan 3-pointer.

DeHaan and Adeeya Yanga scored 16 points each to lead the Tornadoes in scoring. Storm Lake is now 10-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Click below to hear from head coach Nate Reichter.

The Storm Lake boys scored 30 points in the 1st quarter and went on to win 74-49. Jaidyn Coon scored 27 points, Cam Boyd had 20, and Tim Yanga added nine points. Storm Lake is now 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
