Raptor Softball rolls past Warriors 10-1

The Ridge View Raptor softball team rolled past the North Union Warriors 10-1 in Swea City in Class 2A Region 2 Quarterfinal action

The teams would sit each other down in the opening frame without giving up a run. The Raptors would strike first highlighted by RBIs from Leslie Avina and Faith Freese. The Raptors lead 3-0 going to the bottom of the second. After Tatum Shepherd pitched a scoreless bottom of the second the Raptors would strike again. After an Emma Mentzer double Reese Hawthorne would connect on her second home-run of the season to give the Raptors the 5-0 lead. The Raptors would tally one more run to lead 6-0 going to the bottom of the third. The teams would exchange scoreless frames, before Shallie Walders homered for the Warriors to cut the Raptor lead to 6-1 after 4 innings. The teams would again hold each other off the scoreboard as the game went to the seventh with the Raptors leading 6-1. The Raptors would extend their lead with a 2 RBI double by Zoey Aschinger followed by a 2-run home run by Avina. That would be the final margin of victory as the Raptors would go on to win 10-1.

With the win the Raptors improve to 19-11 and advance to play 2A #5 Audubon on Friday after Audubon beat East Sac County 9-0. The Warriors end their season at 16-14

Other 2A Region 2 Finals: Sioux Central falls to Emmetsburg 13-10 and Pocahontas Area falls to MVAOCOU 12-4. MVAOCOU and Emmetsburg will meet Friday in the bottom part of the Class 2A Region 2 bracket
