The #5 in 1A Newell Fonda girls never trailed in their 59-37 win over Sioux Central tonight (Fri) in Newell.
The Mustangs led 14-8 after the 1st quarter, and broke it open in the 2nd, taking a 34-15 lead at halftime.
Kinzee Hinders led the Mustangs with 16, followed by Ellie Sievers with 14, and Mareni Brabec had 10. Avery Wilson topped the Rebels with 12.
Newell Fonda goes to 2-0, and Sioux Central is now 2-2.
The Newell Fonda boys also were never behind in their season opener, as they beat Sioux Central 67-40.
The Mustangs were up 23-11 after the opening quarter, and a buzzer-beating three by Jacksyn Hogrefe gave them a 44-19 lead at the half.
Hogrefe had four threes and finished with 20 points. Jackson Bellcock added 15, and Max Carlson had 11. Titus Koster led the Rebels with 13, as they go to 1-1.
The Sioux Central teams play next Tuesday, December 10th at home against Alta Aurelia.
The Newell Fonda teams play next Thursday at Bishop Garrigan.
