Worthan, Myrtue Lead Ridge View Baseball to Victory

Owen Worthan homered and Blake Myrtue went 4-4 in Ridge View’s 9-7 win over Newell Fonda Monday night in Holstein.

Newell Fonda scored three in the 1st, all with two outs, as Brooks Bellcock singled home a run, and Kellen Meyer had a two-RBI single. The Raptors got two runs back in their half of the inning, and they took the lead with two in the 2nd. The Mustangs scored twice in the 3rd to go up 5-4 as Broc Wilken had an RBI single. Ridge View scored a run in the 4th to tie it, and a two-out bases loaded two-RBI single by Myrtue in the 5th gave Ridge View a 7-5 lead. An RBI single in the 6th by Trevor Tauber got the Mustangs within a run, but Worthan hit a a two-run no-doubt homer to left in the bottom half. Newell Fonda scored a run in the 7th and had the tying run at the plate when a strikeout ended the game.

Kinnick Jensen picked up the win with ten strikeouts in five innings. Myrtue pitched the final two innings to earn the save, as Ridge View goes to 12-8, ending the Mustangs’ nine-game winning streak as they are now 12-8 as well.

Newell Fonda hosts West Bend Mallard tonight (Tues) in a varsity only game at 5:30pm, while Ridge View hosts East Sac on Thursday in a game that will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
