The Storm Lake softball team was victorious at Spencer tonight (Fri) 10-1.
The Tornadoes scored a run in the 1st inning on an RBI groundout by Taylor Ripke. An RBI single by Ripke and a sacrifice fly by Hailey Anderson in the 3rd gave the Tornadoes a 3-0 lead. The Tigers lone run came on a one-out homer by Olivia Huckfelt in the 4th to cut Storm Lake’s lead to 3-1. Storm Lake answered with a three-run 5th, and added four in the 6th.
Anderson drove in three runs, and Cole Richardson also knocked in three runs with an RBI single in the 5th, and a two-RBI single in the 6th. Ripke had three hits and two RBI’s, and Lillie Hoffman singled home a run in the 5th. The Tornadoes had ten hits on the night.
Avery DeHaan picked up her 10th win in the circle by throwing a three-hitter with just one walk and seven strikeouts.
Storm Lake’s regular season sweep over the Tigers puts them at 12-2, and 4-1 in the Lakes Conference, dropping Spencer to 3-15, 0-5.
Storm Lake is scheduled to play two games in Sioux Center tomorrow (Sat), weather permitting.
