Storm Lake Girls Win 3rd in a Row

The Storm Lake girls basketball team defeated Ridge View 61-43 Monday night in Holstein.

The only time the Tornadoes trailed was at 2-1. Storm Lake took a 14-9 lead after the 1st quarter, and an 18-0 2nd quarter run helped them to a 34-15 lead at halftime. The Raptors got within ten late in the 3rd, but Mackenzie Harder hit a three, and then scored an old-fashioned three as Storm Lake took a 15 point lead into the 4th quarter. Ridge View didn’t get any closer from that point.

Four Tornadoes scored in double figures including Adeeya Yanga, who scored 12 of her 15 points in the 4th quarter. Harder had 14 points, Avery DeHaan 12, and Grace Kenkel chipped in with 10.

Claire Wandrey led all scorers with a 24 point performance for the Raptors.

Storm Lake is now 7-5. The Storm Lake girls and boys play Friday at Spencer. They’ll be on Mix 101.7FM and video streamed on our website.

Ridge View goes to 2-9. The Raptor girls and boys play tonight (Tues) at MVAO-COU.
