Storm Lake Girls Soccer falls to Sioux Center 7-2

The Storm Lake Tornado Girls Soccer team fell to the Sioux Center Warriors 7-2, the Storm Lake Boys had their game postponed to May 12th due to lack of officals to be played at Sioux Center

The game started with the JV keeper Dairin Oropeza making her first Varisty start as both keepers Iratzel Ocegueda (Sick) and Dulce Zavala (Injured) were out. The Warriors would come out of the gate and score just 82 seconds into the game to lead 1-0. Over the follwoing seven minutes the Warriors would add two more goals to lead 3-0 with 31:27 to go in the first half. The Tornadoes would get a strike from Andrea Gomez (her second of the season) with 30:21 to go to cut the lead to 3-1. The Warriors would add one more tally with just over eight minutes to go and would go the half with a 4-1 lead.

The second half saw another goalie change as Oropeza would leave the game giving way to Ariana Arreola. The Warriors would add a quick tally 14 minutes into the second half to lead 5-1. The Tornadoes would add one more tally when Nelly Cortez connected on her second of the season to cut the lead to 5-2 with 21:48 to go. The Warriors would add two more scores and would go on to win 7-2.

The Tornadoes fall to 1-2, the Warriors improve to 2-1. Tornado stats: goals from Nelly Cortez (her second of the season), and Andrea Gomez goal (her second of the season). Up next for the Tornadoes they travel to MOC-Floyd Valley on Monday April 17th, a game that will be broadcast on KKIA

The Storm Lake Boys (2-0) had their game at Sioux Center (1-1) postponed to May 12th due to lack of officals. The game on May 12th will be boys JV/Varsity played at Sioux Center. Up next for the Tornadoes they have tournament play Saturday when they take on South Sioux City at 11:00am, and Omaha South at 4:45pm.
