Sioux Central scored touchdowns on all five of their 1st half possessions on their way to a 43-6 Week 7 win over Pocahontas Area in Sioux Rapids.
The Rebels took the opening kickoff and went 64 yards in nine plays in 5:17. Quarterback Ethan Mills ran a 23 yard touchdown, and Sawyer Hollesen’s point-after made it 7-0.
Sioux Central then scored on an eight-play 51-yard drive in 3:41. Kinnick Fahrenkrog’s three yard touchdown run put the Rebels up 14-0.
Sioux Central’s next score came on the opening play of the 2nd quarter, as Mills ran a 64 yard touchdown, and a two-point conversion run by Mills made to score 22-0. A pair of four yard touchdown runs by Fahrenkrog brought the lead to 36-0 at halftime.
After a failed fake punt which gave Pocahontas Area the ball at the Rebels 18 yard line, the Indians got on the board with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Blake Bunda to Gabe Ehn. Sioux Central put the final points on the board on the ensuing possession as a 56 yard run by Fahrenkrog ended a five-play, 67 yard drive with 8:20 remaining.
Sioux Central tallied 339 yards, with 318 on the ground. Fahrenkrog had 23 carries for 158 yards and four touchdowns, while Mills ran eight times for 124 yards and two scores. Sioux Central’s defense held Poky to 86 yards.
Sioux Central improves to 4-3, 2-2 in 1A District 2. The Rebels host East Sac County next week, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM.
Pocahontas Area (0-7, 0-4) host Eagle Grove next week.
