The Ridge View boys basketball team kept their undefeated season going, and in the process took sole possession of 1st place in the Western Valley Conference with their 56-47 win at OA-BCIG tonight (Fri).
The opening quarter, which had seven lead changes and one tie, ended with OA-BCIG in front 16-12. OA-BCIG built a lead as big as six, but the Raptors came back and took a 27-27 lead at halftime. The Falcons regained the lead twice in the 3rd quarter, but Ridge View took the lead for good at 31-30, and led 39-34 after the 3rd. Kellen Jensen hit a three with under five minutes to go to give Ridge View their biggest lead at 50-39. A three by Jaxx DeJean with a minute left pulled OA-BCIG within five, but two Raptor free throws and a transition bucket ended the scoring.
Kellen led Ridge View with 11, while Jaxx had 15 for OA-BCIG, followed by Kade Spotts with 12.
Ridge View goes to 12-0, and 6-0 in the Western Valley Conference, while OA-BCIG is 8-2, 5-2, with both losses to the Raptors. Kinnick Jensen, who returned after missing six games due to injury, talked afterward, along with coach Alex Warnke…
The Ridge View girls avenged a loss to OA-BCIG earlier in the season with a 45-36 triumph in the rematch.
There were six lead changes and three ties. OA-BCIG was up 20-17 at the half. The Raptors took the lead for good late in the 3rd quarter on a three by Jayna Aschinger to make the score 25-23, and Aschinger hit another three soon after to open the lead to five. Ridge View led 30-26 after the 3rd. Another three by Aschinger with under four minutes left gave Ridge View their largest lead at 37-26.
Aschinger had a game-high 19 points, with 14 in the 2nd half. Olivia Schroeder had 12 for the Falcons. Ridge View coach Brian Bode talked afterward, as Ridge View is now 3-10, 2-5, dropping OA-BCIG to 5-8, 1-4…
