Manson Northwest Webster rallied from 11 down in the 3rd quarter to defeat Ridge View 66-63 in a 2A boys basketball district final last (Tues) night in Sac City.
There were seven lead changes and five ties in the 1st half. Manson jumped to a 7-0 lead, but the Raptors followed with seven straight of their own. Ridge View took a 20-16 lead after the 1st quarter, and were up 35-33 at halftime.
The Raptors got the lead as high as 54-43 midway through the 3rd. The Cougars closed the gap to seven going to the 4th. Manson took their first lead since the 2nd quarter 62-60 with five minutes remaining. Ridge View soon tied the score at 62-62, but Logan Moline turned a steal at midcourt into a dunk in the final minute to put Manson on top for good at 64-62. Coy Moline hit one of two free throws with 26 seconds left to extend the lead to three. Kellen Jensen hit one of two free throws with ten seconds left to put the score at 65-63. Ridge View fouled with 8.7 seconds left, and Kelan Koval missed the first but hit the second free throw. Ridge View got the ball into the frontcourt and called timeout with seven seconds left. A three near the right wing a few feet behind the arc rimmed out at the buzzer.
Logan Moline had 26 points. Kellen Jensen led three Raptors in double figures with 19 points, followed by Adam Stephan with 11, and Carter Todd had 10.
Ridge View concludes the season at 21-2. The Raptors seniors include Kellen as well as Carson Harriman, Jack Todd, Gavin Vohs, and Kyle Burk.
Manson NWW (19-5) has now won ten consecutive games. The Cougars will play West Lyon in a substate final Saturday at 6:30pm at Buena Vista University. West Lyon topped Cherokee in a district final 61-49. OA-BCIG will play in a substate final against Western Christian Saturday at 4pm at BVU.
