Abby Winterrowd scored the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 7th in OA-BCIG’s 9-8 victory over East Sac County tonight (Thur) in Battle Creek.
East Sac struck first with three runs in the 2nd inning. Four straight Raiders reached with one out, and Jenn Aschinger brought in one of those runs with an RBI single. OA-BCIG got a run back in their half of the 2nd on a groundout by Halle Montgomery.
The Falcons took the lead with a three-run 3rd, which included an RBI single by Jocelynn Maier, and Montgomery was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. OA-BCIG stretched the lead to 6-3 with two runs in the 4th, including an RBI groundout by Kenai Nielsen.
East Sac refused to fold and reclaimed the lead with a four-run 5th, highlighted by a two-RBI single by Jenn Aschinger. The Raiders stretched the lead to 8-6 on an RBI groundout by Jamie Pierce in the 6th. The Falcons fought back to tie the game in their half of the 6th. Maier had an RBI groundout, and Kylie Schluter scored the equalizer on a wild pitch. Raiders pitcher Maci Gustavsen kept the game tied by getting an inning-ending strikeout.
In the bottom of the 7th, Winterrowd reached on an error with one out, and promptly stole second base. After a popout, Winterrowd advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, and then scored the winning run when Schluter reached on a groundball error.
East Sac had eight hits, and the Falcons had six. Stella Remer got the complete game win with three strikeouts. Gustavsen fanned eight batters over 5 1/3 innings for the Raiders. Makenna Steiger pitched an inning and a third in the middle innings and had one strikeout.

The Falcons are now 1-4. East Sac endures their first loss of the season, now 2-1.
OA-BCIG plays tomorrow (Fri) at Kingsley Pierson. East Sac has their home opener tomorrow against Alta Aurelia. The Raiders play a makeup game Saturday at Cherokee, with varsity starting around 11:45am.
