OA-BCIG Dominates Playoff Opener

OA-BCIG racked up 485 yards of offense in their 55-14 1A 1st round playoff win over Shenandoah in Ida Grove.

The Falcons scored touchdowns on eight of their first nine possessions, with the only exception being a kneel down in the final seconds of the 1st half. After forcing a three-and-out, OA-BCIG scored on a seven-play, 55-yard drive that ended on a nine-yard touchdown run by Kade Spotts. Miles Chesney intercepted a pass to end Shenandoah’s next drive, and the Falcons scored on another seven-play drive that was capped by a Bodie Hansen one-yard run. Hansen rushed for a five-yard touchdown on the Falcons next possession to cap an eight-play 79-yard march. Spotts found the end zone two more times in the 2nd quarter to put OA-BCIG’s lead at 34-0 at halftime.

The Falcons got the ball to start the 2nd half, and were back in the end zone on a three-play 63-yard drive. Brysen Kolar threw a 51-yard pass to Jack Gilbert, which was Gilbert’s 1st of the season. Kolar connected on a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jaxx DeJean on OA-BCIG’s next possession. After a Mustangs three-and-out, the Falcons traveled 62-yards in five-plays, as Spotts 4th touchdown of the game, a 39-yard run, made it 55-0. Shenendoah scored touchdowns on two long passes in the 4th quarter.

Eiden Skirvin also intercepted a pass for OA-BCIG. The Falcons averaged nearly 6.5 yards per carry and had 256 yards on the ground. Spotts led the way with 19 rushes for 190 yards. Kolar was 16-21 through the air for 249 yards.

OA-BCIG goes to 7-2, ending Shenandoah’s season at 3-6. The Falcons will host a 2nd round playoff game next Friday.
