Newell-Fonda–Alta-Aurelia Girls Golf Teams Qualify For State—Casey, Janssen Advance

The Alta-Aurelia girls golf team shot a 381 and placed 2nd at a regional final yesterday that was played at the Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita.

The 1A State Tournament is May 25 and 26 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

The Newell-Fonda girls golf team also advanced to the 1A State Tournament thanks to a 1st place finish at their Regional Final held at the Spring Valley Golf Course near Livermore on Wednesday. The Mustangs shot a 368 and were led by the medalist Grace Erickson’s 84. Alexis Barber was the runner up medalist with an 85, Neveah Lyman carded a 99, and Laney Hogrefe shot a 100. A couple area individuals qualified for the 2A State Tournament. In a regional final yesterday at the Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City Pocahontas Area’s Carly Janssen was the medalist after shooting an 87. The Poky girls team finished 4th with a 399. Sioux Central’s Kendra Casey placed 3rd with a 93. Casey and Janssen advance to the 2A State Tournament which will be held May 25th, and 26th at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
