#3 in 3A Estherville Lincoln Central swept a doubleheader at #7 in 1A Newell Fonda tonight (Tues) by scores of 2-1 and 10-0.
The opening game was tightly contested, as the Mustangs broke through on a two-out RBI single by Anna Mercer in the 1st to make it 1-0. The score held until the 5th when ELC tied it on an RBI groundout. After the first two batters were retired in the 7th, an infield single and an RBI double by Evelyn Nath gave the Midgets their 2-1 winning margin.
Kierra Jungers threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts. ELC pitcher Tatum Dunlavy tossed a three-hitter and struck out 13.
ELC pulled away in the second game as they scored three runs in the 1st inning, and four more in the 2nd. All of those runs scored with two outs. The Midgets added three in the 4th as they won 10-0 in five innings. Four of ELC’s seven hits went for extra bases. Rylee Yager threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Newell Fonda is now 8-2, while ELC goes to 13-2.

ELC plays Thursday at Sioux Central, which will be broadcast along the Storm Lake Radio stations.
