The school districts of Cherokee, Estherville Lincoln Central, Spencer, and Storm Lake have
accepted an invitation to join the Siouxland Conference, starting in the 2026-27 school year.
The conference’s Board of Directors approved the invitation on December 17, and all four
school districts have now accepted. This realignment will create a “Super Conference” of 16
schools.
Conference officials and school and district leaders believe the move will provide a more stable
and sustainable environment for student-athletes while encouraging long-term growth and
partnerships across schools throughout the region.
Additionally, Spirit Lake and Western Christian will join the expanded Siouxland Conference.
The conference currently includes Boyden-Hull, Central Lyon, MOC-Floyd Valley, Okoboji, Rock
Valley, Sheldon, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Center, Unity Christian, and West Lyon.
The four districts’ membership in the Siouxland Conference will officially begin August 1, 2026.
