Beisswenger and Alaniz Earn A-R-C Honors

The Buena Vista University football team had a pair of individuals recognized for their performances during the win over Loras this past Saturday. Senior Eman Alaniz and junior Matthew Beisswenger were each named Performers of the Week on Offensive and Special Teams, respectively.

Alaniz, (from Parker, Arizona) registered a team and season-high 115 yards rushing and one touchdown. His two-yard plunge in the second quarter gave BVU a 13-3 lead. He is currently ranked fourth in the A-R-C with 4.5 yards per rush and pushes his career rushing touchdown total to eight.

Beisswenger (from Audubon, Iowa) turned in a big game by connecting on two early field goals (20, 35) to give BVU an early 6-3 first quarter advantage. Two plays from scrimmage after his made 35-yard field goal, he intercepted his first pass of the year – and fourth of his career – in Duhawk territory which led to Alaniz’s touchdown run. Beisswenger also made both of his PAT attempts and averaged 30.0 yards on five punt attempts.

The duo marks the first two BVU football players recognized with weekly A-R-C honors this season. Alaniz last earned the honor on Sept. 26, 2022 while Beisswenger was last recognized on defense on Nov. 6, 2023.

Buena Vista is 1-2 overall (1-0 A-R-C) and is set to host Central College (2-1, 0-1 A-R-C) on Saturday, Sept. 28, for its Homecoming/Hall of Fame Game. Kickoff inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium is at 1 p.m.
