5th Ranked Tornadoes Win At SCC

The Storm Lake boys basketball team moved their record to 18-1 with a 71-48 win over South Central Calhoun Thursday night at Rockwell City.

Jaidyn Coon scored 22 points, Cam Boyd had 16, and David William chipped in with 10. The Titans, who were led by Evan Meyers’ 17 points, hung tough with the Tornadoes in the first half trailing 33-28 after two quarters. SCC would actually pull within two points at 40-38 midway through the 3rd quarter but after a Storm Lake timeout the Tornadoes responded with a 17-0 run and never looked back.

South Central Calhoun falls to 12-9 and will begin tournament play on their home floor Monday vs. Pocahontas Area.

Storm Lake will play again Tuesday night at home vs. Sioux City-East. Click below to hear from Tornado head coach Evan Franzmeier.
