Public Hearing Set for Storm Lake Water/Sewer Rate Recommendations

The Storm Lake City Council this week approved setting a public hearing for an ordinance changing the city’s water and sewer rates.

The City has typically conducted a rate study and established a rate schedule every five years. Finance Director Brian Oakleaf said due to costs for several projects, along with funding, an accurate estimate of revenue needs over five years isn’t possible, and a two-year rate change for water and sewer is suggested based on current operation and capital costs, which account for the revenue debt that will be issued for the new water tower and well projects…(audio clip below)

The public hearing on water and sewer rate recommendations will be held at the council meeting on May 15th.
