An accident that involved multiple vehicles caused significant damage and disruption on Friday afternoon in Storm Lake.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, several utility and light poles were struck and severed, which led to power outages across many neighborhoods. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and Storm Lake Fire Department assisted in redirecting traffic and blocking streets where power lines were down. The Storm Lake Public Works Department installed four-way stop signs at intersections that lost traffic signals. MidAmerican Energy worked late into the evening on Friday replacing power poles and utility lines.
The accident was still under investigation as of the weekend. More information is expected to be released later today (Mon).
