The Tyson Foods plants in Storm Lake are among 78 plants within the company to receive recognition for positive environmental impact.
The Environmental Recognition Awards honor a company’s dedication to continuous environmental improvement as witnessed by the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems. The recognition awards are categorized by four tiers. Tier One recognizes compliance polices, and Tier Four represents the highest level of environmental management. The Storm Lake Tyson turkey and pork plants each received Tier Three recognition.
Tyson Foods and individual plants also received 80 awards from the North American Meat Institute. Tyson was given the Community Wellness Award for its leadership in fighting hunger and food insecurity through protein donations to regional food banks and community pantry partners across the nation.
In fiscal year 2022, Tyson donated more than 18-million pounds of protein to food banks, pantries, and hunger relief organizations in the company’s plant communities and throughout the country.
