Unemployment Rates Drop in Most Area Counties

Local unemployment data for the month of February has been released by Iowa Workforce Development.

Buena Vista County’s unemployment rate for February is 2.3-percent, which is down by one-tenth of a percent from January.

The unemployment rate in Ida County fell from 2.8 to 2.6-percent…Sac dipped from 3.3 to 2.8…Clay County decreased from 3.7 to 3.4…Pocahontas dropped from 2.5 to 2.3…and Calhoun County dropped one-tenth of a percent to 2.6-percent in February. There are also decreases in O’Brien and Palo Alto counties.

The unemployment rate in Cherokee County increase by one-tenth of a percent in February to 2.9-percent.

The statewide unemployment rate fell from three-percent to 2.9. Iowa’s labor force increased slightly. The labor force participation rate held steady at 68.1-percent.
