Storm Lake City Council Approves Sunrise Pointe Golf Rates for 2023 Season

The Storm Lake City Council on Monday on a 3-1 vote approved rates at the Sunrise Pointe Golf Course for upcoming season, which includes a couple of new additions.

Sunrise Pointe will offer a single-season pass special of 150-dollars for new members only. The current rate is 325-dollars. There will also be price changes for tournaments in which the course would be closed to the public. A nine-hole course rental fee will cost 250-dollars…18-hole course rental fee 400-dollars…and a group cart rental fee this season will cost 350-dollars.

All other rates will remain the same this year. The Early Bird sale will begin this coming Sunday, March 26th from 9am to 4pm at the Sunrise Pointe clubhouse.

Council member Tyson Rice was hoping to table the item, and voted against the resolution. Rice requested information on rates for nine-hole courses in communities the size of Storm Lake, and the amount of general fund contributions towards their golf courses. Council member Kevin McKinney felt that the council should proceed with approving this year’s fees due to time constraints.

City Staff Accountant Tyler Gibbins said a comprehensive study last year found Sunrise is in the middle or lower end as far as prices compared to other courses in the area.

The golf season at Sunrise Pointe is scheduled to begin on April 1st.
