Spencer Man Receives Felony OWI and Other Charges Following Incident Last Weekend

A Spencer man received multiple charges this past weekend after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch.

According to the sheriff’s office, an accident occurred around 6:10pm last Saturday in the 39-hundred mile of 225th Avenue in Spencer. It was determined that 35-year-old Jose Alejandro Rangel Rojas drove an SUV into the west ditch. Rojas was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

Rojas was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense, a class D felony…Driving While Revoked, a serious misdemeanor…as well as Failure to Have a Valid Driver’s License and Failure to Provide Security Against Liability. He was also given a warning for Failure to Maintain Control.

Rojas was booked into the Clay County Jail. The vehicle sustained an estimated four-thousand dollars in damage.
