A new principal and assistant principal have been selected for the Storm Lake Early Elementary School and East Early Childhood Center.

Heath Stille, who is currently the director of student services, will step into the principal role. Stille has been with the Storm Lake district for the last nine years. He has also served as an instructional coach and a 6th grade teacher.

Jessica Mathistad has been named the assistant principal of the Early Elementary and East Early Childhood. She has been with the district since 2012, and is currently an instructional coach at the Storm Lake Elementary School.

“We are excited to announce that these two hard-working educators will take on these new leadership roles between East and the Early Elementary School,” said Storm Lake Superintendent Dr. Stacey Cole.  “Both Mr. Stille and Ms. Mathistad have proven themselves to be passionate, driven, and effective leaders of our students and staff. We look forward to seeing the impact they will have on our school community.”

The appointments of Stille and Mathistad to their new positions are pending approval by the Storm Lake School Board, which will take place at their meeting next Wednesday, March 15th.

The Storm Lake Early Elementary School opened in January of 2022, and is home to kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students.
