Storm Lake United Hosts RAGBRAI Chamber Coffee ; Volunteers Needed

A chamber coffee event was held this (Thur) morning in recognition of the announcement that Storm Lake will be the first overnight stop this year for the 50th anniversary of RAGBRAI.

Mike’s wife, Lori Porsch will also be in charge of a committee, as she was the last time Storm Lake hosted RAGBRAI in 2015…(audio clip below :28 )

Carl Turner, who is Co-Chair of the local RAGBRAI Executive Committee along with Breanna Horsey, said they had around 470 volunteers the last time RAGBRAI was in Storm Lake. Turner was also involved back in 2015, and said he’s frequently asked why he wants to invest the time it takes to make RAGBRAI happen…(audio clip below :26 )

Turner said if anyone receives housing requests, they should be directed to Storm Lake United at this time. Contact Storm Lake United as well regarding volunteer opportunities.

Storm Lake will be hosting RAGBRAI on Sunday, July 23rd. This will be the 7th year for Storm Lake to host RAGBRAI. Only Sioux City, which is the starting point for the bike ride this year, has hosted the event more.
