Chris Boeckman Receiving Baseball Coaches Association Media Award

Storm Lake Radio sports director Chris Boeckman has been chosen as a recipient of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association media award, representing the western side of the state.

Chris was nominated by former Storm Lake baseball coach Ben Seaman. Chris will receive the award at the IHSBCA Awards Banquet in West Des Moines this Saturday, January 21st.

Chris has been covering high school baseball in Iowa since 1990. This year will be his 34th season covering high school baseball in the state. Chris started at KAYL in 1991.

Boeckman’s 2nd year of broadcasting baseball for Storm Lake Radio was a memorable one, as Storm Lake St. Mary’s won the 1A State Championship when the tournament was being played in Marshalltown. The Panthers also took him to the state tourney in 1997 and 2002 in Carroll.

Chris followed the Storm Lake baseball team to Des Moines for the 2009 state tourney. The team had a runner-up finish, and Ben Seaman was their ace pitcher. The Tornadoes would make it back to state in 2010 and 2011, and Boeckman called every game.

Chris has also covered many area teams in their quests for state baseball titles over the years, and has many great memories along the way.

An avid Minnesota Twins fan, Boeckman is passionate about the game having coached all three of his sons in little league, he has also served on the board for the Storm Lake Little League Association for years.
