OA-BCIG–Storm Lake Basketball Recap

The OA-BCIG boys basketball team remains unbeaten on the year after they beat Storm Lake 67-60 Saturday afternoon at TornadoFieldhouse in Storm Lake. It was an excellent game from the opening tip as both teams played hard and found themselves tied 31-31 at the half. The Falcons made 8 of 20 shots in the 3rd quarter and built a 49-43 lead heading into the final quarter and then started the 4th quarter on a 9-0 run which stretched their lead to15 at 58-43 with just under six minutes to play. Storm Lake would never give up as they cut the deficit to 64-58 after Charlie Dvergsten made his 3rd 3-pointer of the 2nd half but they would get no closer.

The Falcons were led in scoring by Treyton Kolar’s 16, Griffin Diersen had 15, and Beckett DeJean added 14 points. OA-BCIG is now 11-0 on the year.

Storm Lake was led by Cam Boyd’s 16 points, Jake Eddie added 11, and Jaidyn Coon scored ten. The Tornadoes fall to 3-7 on the season.

In the girls game Storm Lake outscored the visiting Falcons 18-2 in the 3rd quarter on their way to a 53-23 win. Avery DeHaan scored 17 points and Adeeya Yanga chipped in with 15. The win puts Storm Lake at 8-5 overall, the eight wins is the most in a season since the 2009-2010 state tournament team.

The Falcons, who fall to 3-9 overall, were led by Alex Schroeder’s seven points.
