Sioux Central basketball teams get home sweep of Ridge View

The Sioux Central Rebel basketball teams swept the Ridge View Raptors in Saturday afternoon basketball in Sioux Rapids. The Rebel girls winning in a final of 60-34, and the boys winning 74-44.

The girls game would start out slow as neither team would score in the first 3:08 of the game. The Rebels would break the ice to lead 2-0. The Raptors would also crack the scoreboard, when they scored 8 in a row to lead 8-2 promting a Sioux Central timeout. The Rebels would use an 8-0 run of their own over the next two minutes to lead 10-8 with under a minute to go. After the teams traded baskets to move the score to 12-11, Morgan Christian would hit a 3 at the buzzer off of a busted play to give the Rebels a 15-11 lead after one.

The Rebels would lock down on defense and would shut out the Raptors in the second quarter. The Rebels would outscore the Raptors 24-0 in the quarter to lead 39-11 at the half. The Rebels would pick up where they left off in the third quarter scoring the first four points of the third to lead 43-11. The Raptors would collect a free throw to end a Rebel run which was a 31-0 run over about 9 minutes and 40 seconds of game time. The Rebels would push their lead to 35 at 53-18 with 2:20 to go in the third to bring running clock into play. The Rebels would go on to win 60-34.

With the win the Rebels improve to 6-3 and extend their win streak to 4, the Raptors fall to 3-5

Rebels were lead by Morgan Christian with 21 points, Bradi Krager added 14, and Avery Wilson had 9. For the Raptors they were lead by Madison Stowater with 15 points, and Shae Dutler had 10 points.

The boys game saw the Rebels take control early. After the Raptors lead 3-2 with 6:15 to go in the first, the Rebels went on an 11-2 run that forced the Raptors to take a timeout with the Rebels leading 13-5. After the timeout the Rebels extended their lead on a 9-5 run to force another Raptor timeout wit the Rebels up 22-10. The Rebels would pour it on with a 14-2 run going into the second quarter capturing a 36-12 lead with 4:24 to go in the half. The Raptors would cut in the lead with a 7-5 run over the final four minutes to trail 41-19 at the half.

The Rebels would push out of the half with a strong third quarter outscoring the Raptors 18-10 for a 59-29 lead going into the final stanza. The Rebels would go on to win 74-44.

With the win the Rebels stay unbeaten at 8-0, the Raptors fell to 3-6.

Rebels were lead in scoring by Jacob Hargens with 23, Ethan Mills ended with 20 and Carter Boettcher scored 19. The Raptors were paced by Cael Myrtue and Kyler Wunschel both with 8 points.
