Comments from coach Ariel Huseman, “Our athletes have worked hard all season, and it was so rewarding to haveso many of them qualify for the state meet on Friday. Braden Sonksen ran 18 seconds faster than he did last year and placed eight spots higher. He has put in a lot of work during practice and had a lot of high goals throughoutthe season. We went into the meet hoping to be in the top 50%, and he did just that. We will miss his leadership next year, but we look forward to hopefully cheering him on at the collegiate level next year.

Our girls went into the state meet ranked 6th in the state for 1A and were able to hold onto that place…we couldn’t have asked for a more exciting way to end our season! Three of our girls ran personal bests including Taylor Robertson, Breyer Anderson, and Lainey Buckendahl. Hayden Berkland was also only one second off of her personal best. Joelle and Brielle continued to show their senior leadership through their strong finishes and encouragement leading up to state. Nora Peterson, once again, was able to place 3rd making it her second year in the top 3 at the state meet. She ran a smart race and tried to keep a close distance between herself and the two leaders and ran 11 seconds faster than last year.

We couldn’t be more proud of how our entire team ran this season. We are sad to lose so many seniors, but we look forward to seeing what next season will bring”.
